The trailers genre is of a thriller as it involves aspects of all genres, such as romance and action. The trailer consists of various shot types to impact the audience in different ways. Firstly the trailer starts with a close up of a females hands and a picture a male. The impact of this close shot is to make the audience question, who is that man in the picture? This engages the audience to want to find out. The close shots also help to capture the characters emotion, which helps the audience to understand the concept/feel of film. Other shots such as long shots are shown mostly half way during the trailer (the two girls dancing around). Long shots show the audience the main characters and the surroundings, which likely is to cause audiences to question where they are as well as the characters personalities, whether they be good or sinister. The ending of the trailer is shown to be silent, which helps to emphasise the severity of the matter.
The Camera angle is mainly of a consistent angle; however some shots are seen in a high camera angle (the car driving shot), this could portray that the fact them being in this car could connate the characters to be richer or somehow in more power/control. The camera movement involves Tilts and Pan. The tilt used in this trailer is of the characters bodies and shows the audience what they are doing. The panning is used to give the audience an insight into the films world and adds to its understanding aspect. Colour is also used in the trailer to create a certain atmosphere. Duller colours, certain darker hues such as blue/black are used throughout the trailer.
The colours convey a negative vibe, as the connotations are darkness and night which is where bad things or dilemma occur. This appeal to the target audience as they would be interested in the kind of conflict in this film. The lighting shown throughout the trailer is mostly dull/dark lighting which indicates that the film is probably going to be a dark one consisting of some form of evil or obsession as it says. Moreover the characters are seen in mostly a dark light and colours, suggesting them to be evil or the villains in this film.
The costumes the characters are wearing are very modern/bright rave colours signifying them to be ‘Wild child’ or ‘Rebels’. The clothes are shown to be scant and slightly childish with the bright colours, which may connote the characters persona to be immature. In addition the words such as “love”, “obsession” and others are zoomed out of from a black back ground, conveying a notion of love and death. The words are in a striking red colour, which could alarm the audience as well as having connotations of love and blood.
Their makeup is shown to be dark and smudged which could demonstrate them to be dark characters or to have been involved in some form of dilemma (crying causes eyeliner/mascara to smudge). The characters body language seems to be very menacing looking which suggest them to be the villains or “”baddies” in this film to the audience. The shots are edited into a formula which creates an eerie mysterious vibe for the audience, pulling them.
Most of the shots are cuts, making it seem quick paced. Some shots are used in a fade shots, this adds to the eeriness of the characters doings, making audience question its content. Furthermore the first half of the trailer is much slower in contrast to the other half being fast paced with the use of dramatic music creating an eerie effect. The Diegetic sound used throughout this trailer is of the main characters voice; once again the voice is very childlike and appears to be broken at the beginning, which could suggest that she may have been crying. However when the introduction of another character is thrown in it seems the other girls voice grows into something darker. Non-dietetic sound is music is played which is gentle at the beginning, but as the trailer gets more interesting the music adapts into this rock/rave music, appealing to the young audience demographic.
